I just obtained a new storage server chassis to replace my aging primary storage server. Time for show and tell!

This is a Supermicro SSG-6029P-E1CR24L that features a unique 24-bay design in a 2U form factor. I love the design, though maintenance is not for the faint of heart. I picked it up off ebay https://ebay.us/mByzAp (affiliate link) for around $1100US shipped to my door. The system shipped with dual Intel Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs and 192GB of DDR4 ECC 2666 RAM. The system will replace my aging dual socket E5-2680v4 12-bay SMC chassis that currently runs storage duties.

It's longer than a typical 2U server to accommodate the extra 12-bays, and comes in around 34" deep, however it still fits in my standard-depth 48U APC cabinet.

Last thing, of course, there's a video for it. You can find it here:

That's a solid pickup and a helluva deal! Personally, I would probably lean towards a very dense shelf myself, but I love the consolidation and density of products like this. This is going to be the only way we scale in the near-future (read: NOW).

this is awesome. a few weeks ago i finished a new dish shelf. albeit in an older CSE-826. no motherboard CPU, just a SAS expander, as i connected it to an existing server. i tossed 12x 14TB SAS in it so i should be set for quite some time.
